THE ROUTINE
Introducing your new Awiqli® basal insulin routine
You and your doctor choose 1 day of the week to be your Awiqli® day. From then on, it’s 1 injection on that same day each week—Awiqli® works steadily in the background over the rest of the week.
Choose your Awiqli® day
Work with your doctor to pick the day of the week that works best for your schedule. Your healthcare provider should show you how to use Awiqli® FlexTouch® Pen before you use it for the first time.
Follow your routine
Inject your dose on that same day each week, at whatever time works for you.
Make Awiqli® a part of your life
Awiqli® keeps working steadily in the background. And if you ever need to move your day or miss one, clear instructions are there to get you back on track.
Need to change your day?
You can move your Awiqli® day if you need to—just make sure it’s been at least 4 days since your last dose.
What if you miss a dose?
If you forget your dose, take it as soon as you remember, as long as it’s been 4 days or fewer since it was due—then take your next dose 1 week from that day. If more than 4 days have passed, skip the missed dose and take your next one on your regular day. Check your blood sugar a little more often after a missed dose. Ask your healthcare provider what your blood sugar should be and when you should check your blood sugar levels.
YOUR DOSE
Let’s talk your dose
Your doctor will determine your weekly dose based on a number of factors, then fine-tune it over the course of your treatment. Where you’re starting from shapes how your dose is set.
Take Awiqli® exactly as your healthcare provider tells you to. Do not do any conversion of your dose. The dose counter always shows the selected dose in units. Awiqli® FlexTouch® pens are made to deliver your insulin dose in units.
Awiqli® is available in a single-patient-use prefilled pen package: One 1.5 mL FlexTouch® pen containing 1050 units.
Questions about switching to a weekly basal insulin dose?
You're not alone.
You already know the daily basal insulin routine. Here’s how the switch to once-weekly Awiqli® works.

THE FLEXTOUCH® PEN
No mixing. No filling. No kidding.
Awiqli® comes in a prefilled FlexTouch® pen, about the size of a marker, with the insulin already inside.
Prefilled and ready
The insulin is already in the pen, so nothing to fill, mix, or measure. Your needles (NovoFine® Plus) come right in the pack.a
Where to inject
You'll inject under the skin of your stomach, thigh, or upper arm, choosing a slightly different spot each time. (If you use your stomach, stay about 2 inches away from your belly button.)
Safety matters
Always use a new needle for each injection, and never share your pen with anyone—even with a fresh needle.

The Instructions for Use that come with your pen cover preparation, injecting, and disposing of used pens and needles. Your healthcare provider should also show you the steps before your first injection.
aStore unused Awiqli® pens in the refrigerator at 36 °F to 46 °F until the expiration date on the carton. Once you start using a pen, you can keep it at room temperature below 86 °F or in the refrigerator at 36 °F to 46 °F for up to 12 weeks. Throw away a pen 12 weeks after first use, even if it still has Awiqli® in it. Do not freeze Awiqli® or use it if it has been frozen, and keep it away from heat and direct sunlight.
Important safety reminders when using your Awiqli® FlexTouch® pen
Do not share pens or needles

Check your insulin and dose before each injection
Make sure you use the right type and dose of insulin. Always check the label on your insulin pen before each injection to avoid mix-ups with Awiqli® and other insulin products or injectable medicines used to treat diabetes. If you use another injectable medicine to treat your diabetes, pay close attention to how you select your Awiqli® dosage. The dosage of Awiqli® is different from other injectable medicines used to treat diabetes.

FAQs
Questions people often ask about using Awiqli®.
Coverage depends on your insurance plan. NovoCare® may help you check your coverage and understand your options. You can also ask your healthcare provider, pharmacist, or insurance company whether Awiqli® is covered by your plan.
Awiqli® is available in the 1.5 mL single-patient-use FlexTouch® prefilled pen (containing 1050 units)
No—disposable NovoFine® Plus needles come in the pack, enough to cover your injections. Use a new needle for every injection, and never reuse or share one.
Use a pen within 12 weeks of your first injection. After that, start a fresh pen even if some Awiqli® is left—writing your disposal date on a calendar can help you keep track.
Keep pens you’re not using in the refrigerator until their expiration date. If an unused pen is kept at room temperature (below 86 °F) throw it away after 12 weeks. The pen you’re currently using can stay at room temperature (below 86 °F) or in the fridge for up to 12 weeks. Don’t freeze Awiqli® or leave it in heat or direct light, and keep the cap on between uses.
Inject Awiqli® under the skin once a week, on the same day every week. Your healthcare provider will tell you your dose—the dose is different for people starting insulin for the first time and for people switching from a daily basal insulin.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you can within 4 days, then go back to your usual weekly schedule. If more than 4 days have passed, skip that dose and take your next one on your regular day.
Your healthcare provider should show you how to use your Awiqli® FlexTouch® Pen before you use it for the first time. Read the full Instructions for Use for step-by-step instructions.
Your doctor works out your once-weekly Awiqli® dose from your current daily basal insulin dose, so you don't have to do any math—and they'll tell you exactly when to take your first injection. A few things will look different: your once-weekly Awiqli® dose covers a full week of basal insulin, so the number (units) is larger than your previous daily basal insulin, and your first dose is a one-time higher amount. Depending on your dose, you may split an injection or have some insulin left in a pen; your pen's dose counter shows how much is left before each injection.
Your healthcare provider should show you how to use Awiqli® FlexTouch® Pen before you use it for the first time.
Take Awiqli® exactly as your healthcare provider tells you to. Do not do any conversion of your dose. The dose counter always shows the selected dose in units. Awiqli® FlexTouch® pens are made to deliver your insulin dose in units.
Know the type and strength of insulin you take. Do not change the type of insulin you take unless your healthcare provider tells you to. The amount of insulin and the best time for you to take your insulin may need to change if you take different types of insulin.
Check your blood sugar levels often. Ask your healthcare provider what your blood sugar should be and when you should check your blood sugar levels.
For further details, see the Awiqli® Prescribing Information and Instructions for Use.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible if it has been 4 days or fewer. Then continue once weekly, 1 week from the day you took the missed dose. If more than 4 days have passed, skip the missed dose and take your next dose on your regular day. You should check your blood sugar levels more frequently and ask your healthcare provider what your blood sugar should be and when you should check your blood sugar levels.
Yes. Check your blood sugar as your healthcare provider tells you to. Ask your healthcare provider what your blood sugar levels should be and when to check them, especially when starting Awiqli®, switching insulin, changing your dose, or if you miss a dose.
